It's getting colder in the Northern Hemisphere... Here are some articles for a chilly day... Sorry about the lack of articles on specific investments. I haven't had much time to research them and I haven't found any potential long-term investments that I have liked. There have been quite a few mergers and takeovers announced but the spreads are likely small (no financial crisis or panic selling right now.) But if the market sells off, keep an eye on some of those announced deals to see if the spreads widen. British Columbia's real estate appears to be on the verge of a bust (The Globe & Mail): Difficult to tell from these stories but it looks like the real estate boom in BC might be on its last legs. I imagine it is still strong due to the Olympics build-out but we'll know how bad the situation is after the Olympics. Flashback... Interviews with Shloss and Klarman

I don't know if it's just me but I am seeing quite a number of amateur-oriented investment blogs start up in the last year. Several of them seem to be focused on value investing and tend to cover material that are useful for newbies like me. I don't know if it's just the rising popularity of blogging or if it's someone trying to take out their misery on the written ink ;) but I hope the bloggers continue doing what they are doing... Older investors or those with good historical research skills may have seen the following two articles before but it's the first time I have encountered them and thought others may find it interesting.
